Welcome to REACH!
The Greenwood Elementary Schools are committed to ensuring that the needs of all learners are being met by challenging high ability students to strive toward their utmost achievement and academic growth levels. The program for high ability students will be differentiated in depth and complexity with specific enrichment opportunities designed to meet the cognitive and affective needs of the high ability students. The Greenwood Community School Corporation is committed to providing enhanced instruction in addition to the regular curriculum standards in order to challenge high ability learners to reach their greatest potential.
Meet mrs. bricker:
My name is Mrs. Bricker, and I am the REACH (high ability) Coordinator for the Greenwood Community School Corporation. I am beginning my nineteenth year of teaching at Greenwood Schools. I am married and have two daughters, a son-in-law, a grandson, and one dog. They all keep me very busy! I also coach the Greenwood High School Dazzlers Dance Team. In my free time, I like to travel. This past summer, I took a trip to England and Spain! It was lots of fun. I also love to play and watch sports! I am a Colts fan , and I love IU basketball! I have degrees from Indiana University and Ball State University, so those two schools are my favorite college teams! I am looking forward to a great year of learning and exploring in REACH!
IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
REACH participants will be provided opportunities to extend the depth and complexity of grade level language arts/math standards through differentiated instruction provided in the classroom. These services will be offered through the collaborative efforts of the classroom teacher and the REACH program coordinator and may include flexible grouping/limited pull-out instruction.
In addition to ongoing differentiated services provided in the classroom, we have weekly REACH meetings at each school. The schedule for these meetings with Mrs. Bricker is as follows:
Monday - Isom
Tuesday - Northeast
Wednesday - Southwest
Thursday - Westwood
BRAIN TEASERS:
In addition to the ongoing projects and problem solving activities that take place in REACH meetings and throughout the differentiated services in the regular classroom, REACH students in grades 2-5 will have a weekly BRAIN TEASER that they can complete. Accumulated points can be earned for the correct completion of BRAIN TEASERS (which results in students winning various prizes)! These challenge opportunities are not considered homework assignments; but rather, can be used for students to complete when they have a few minutes of free time!

TESTING INFORMATION:
Corporation-wide testing will be conducted to screen all students at the kindergarten and second grade levels for possible REACH identification. Kindergarten testing will take place in the fall, while the second grade screening will be administered in the spring. Fifth grade students may also be tested in the spring for possible placement into sixth grade honors classes at the middle school. This testing will be conducted on a referral basis from classroom teachers. In addition, any student may be tested throughout the school year if the building principal approves a request that has been submitted by parents, teachers, or any staff member.
